Faith Discovery
At The Plymouth Church we are all learning and growing in faith all the time! When it comes to our children, we know that they learn about God and faith from every experience and every person at church. Faith Discovery is so much more than Sunday school. Whether it’s having a children’s picture Bible in every pew so everyone can follow along, or including Junior Deacons as Communion servers, we are always looking for new ways to accompany our children on their faith journeys.

Children's Sunday

Faith Workshop
Faith Workshop is what we call the learning time for children during Sunday morning worship. Each week, children are guided through the stories of our faith by adult leaders using the Spark Lectionary Curriculum. Together, children and adults do the messy work of figuring out how these stories apply to our lives today. Workshops are offered for children in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade. Visitors are welcome, and there’s always room for one more if you decide to stay! Children should attend the beginning of worship with their families and will be led downstairs to their Workshop after the Time With the Children. On the first Sunday of each month, children begin in their workshop and are brought upstairs to rejoin their families for Communion. All children are welcome to participate in Communion and allergen-free options are available.

Nursery Care
For children from infancy through 3 years of age, we provide nursery care every Sunday from 9:45-11:45 a.m. Our Nursery is staffed by a trained professional to ensure safety and care. Parents are always welcome in the Nursery.

Youth Group
Youth Group is place you belong just because you showed up. Together, we ask the hard questions, stretch our hearts to fit more of God’s love, and learn to make space for one another in community. We go on adventures looking for God in unexpected places and we laugh till we burst at the seams. Youth Group is for youth in grades 6-12. We meet every Sunday, usually from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., and usually at church. On Sunday mornings, 6th graders can choose to attend worship or to participate in Faith Workshop, and youth in grades 7-12 are are welcome in worship.

Confirmation
Sundays 1:30-3:00 p.m.

A joint adventure between Edwards and Plymouth Churches for youth to explore their faith. Ask all your questions. See how this church stuff adds up!

Junior Deacons
During the summer of 2015, three young girls declared their desire to serve Communion. Their vocal desire led the adult deacons of  The Plymouth Church into a season of discernment and imagining that resulted in the Junior Deacons. Junior Deacons are children in 3rd-5th grade who help the pastors and adult deacons celebrate Communion by serving bread, releasing pews, and helping out during baptisms.

Every child in 3rd-5th grade participates in two special Faith Workshop classes in the fall to learn about communion and service, at which point they may choose to become a Junior Deacon.

Safe Church
The Plymouth Church in Framingham is committed to creating and maintaining a worship and work community in which members, their children, friends, staff, and volunteers can worship and work together in an atmosphere that is safe - both physically and psychologically - and free of exploitation or intimidation. We strive to provide a welcoming environment in which each and every person in our congregation feels valued. Our congregation’s health and safety is a key aspect of our culture of caring. This is especially true for the children and youth entrusted to our care.

We comply with the principles set forth by the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security of Massachusetts. We are certified to request and review criminal background checks, Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI), for all staff and many key lay volunteer positions.
